I have been part of the book world for 11.5 years. I’ve read for my own pleasure. I’ve read for Stephanie’s blog. I’ve edited and proofread hundreds of books.
And only three books have ever made me cry. Mud Vein by Tarryn Fisher. Taking Chances by Molly McAdams. And Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan.
I haven’t cried reading a book in years.
Until today.
And I cried TWICE.
I was going to post a picture of me crying for proof. But no one wants to see that. You’ll just have to believe me.
Why did I cry? Because I just finished The Surrogate by Penelope Ward. This book is phenomenal. This story has such heart and it really touched mine. It’s absolutely beautiful and touching. The characters are so loveable. Sigmund and Abby are just so down to earth and their love and story is one I won’t ever forget.
I don’t want to spoil the story. But know that for me to cry. And twice. Means this book is special.
Beautiful. Phenomenal. Exquisite. Emotional.
The Surrogate just reinforces why Penelope is up there as one of my favorite authors.
I can’t wait to own the model cover and the special edition.
