But is Bree too broken to let him in?

Declan may be her only hope for solace, if he’s strong enough to break down her walls. Will she risk letting him in … or let her pain consume her?

Kim’s 4star Review

Author S.Ferguson debut novel is a must read!! I absolutely love when I read a first time author and they completely blow me away. The story has pulled every emotion possible out of me it was one amazing ride.

The details and descriptions of all the places and events that took place are so well written. How is it possible for a first time author to make such an impact with their first book. It’s extremely rare which makes it so much more special for me as a reader.

Bree has had an extremly rough start in life and the trauma she had to endure makes you wonder if she will ever find any happiness. If she can ever be whole again. When she meets Declan you wish for the HEA but with everything she has been through it just doesn’t seem possible.

I  ant recommend this book enough I am looking forward to the next book by this author. S. Ferguson has a gift and I can’t wait to see where this gift takes her in the future and her readers.

I was given this book for an honest review.

Lecia’s review of Something There in Between
4 1/2 Stars
Bree is a beautifully broken young woman who works at a bar for a notorious gangster named Ron, she runs the bar for him.  Declan is the brother of one of Ron’s underlings who is no stranger to hard times and dysfunction.  From the moment Declan meets Bree and see’s her he knows he would do anything to make her smile and bring light back into her life.
Bree has had a life of pain, from a mother who would stop at nothing to tear her down to a boy she loved who treated her as a throw away piece.  With all the degrading and heart wrenching abuse Bree sales her self short, she hides from people so she can’t be hurt.  In turn she also internalizes all her pain which almost incapacitates her to the point of not being able to function.
Declan who is this almost easy going man who bartends see’s the beauty in Bree and wants nothing more than to bring it out in her.  From the second he sees her he finds himself drawn to her and protective of her in no way he has before with another woman.  He to comes from a discontented background, it’s whether they can find their way together or seperate that becomes the issue.
I love this story so much from the honest portrayal of how we as humans try and keep our secrets and pain bottled up, instead of dealing with most things head on we keep it inside and let it dictate so much about us and our relationships with everyone.  Watching the relationship between Bree and Declan unfold and finding their secrets through out the book was an achingly painful sweet glimpse into their lives and how they have either coped and survived or floundered.  This book touches on some very serious topics from physical abuse, emotional abuse, rape, molestation and manipulation.  Seeing how each character deals with these things and how it affects their vision of the world is something that the author does an amazing job at portraying.  She truly captures how complex it is to work through the feelings of shame, disgust and self loathing that come with any type of abuse.  We as people are so quick to not understand how someone can stay in any abusive situation but this author really shows how easy it is for someone’s view to so skewed by the tricks of any abuser but the hardest ones to notice are the emotional abusers.  I believe this author truly showed how easy it is to stop believing in yourself and how to blame ones self.  Only reason this book wasn’t a 5 star for me was I felt the growth process of Bree was sped up a little too much and would have liked a little more in depth with that but otherwise this is an amazing Debut novel for this author and I can not wait to see what else she writes.  I’m emotionally invested with her work after this I can’t imagine not visiting these characters again and seeing where they go.  Great job Mrs. Ferguson great job!
