I’m not exactly the social type. After spending most of my formative years in prison, I prefer an isolated existence in the wilderness of Canada’s Northwest Territories, making what little cash I need guiding tourists to the best hunting grounds. I have no desire for company; I crave solitude instead, especially during the subarctic winter months, but what am I supposed to do when I come across a woman in distress? I can’t just leave her to die in the cold, and a storm is on the way.

So now we are confined to my secluded cabin, and I quickly realize there’s something not quite right about Seri—or is her name Netti? She switches moods faster than a snowshoe hare changes direction. In fact, I’m starting to think there’s more than one person behind the mystifying woman’s intense, green eyes.

Physically, only two of us are trapped inside the rustic cabin, but I still feel outnumbered.

Renee’s Three Star Review

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

I am not exactly the social type. First I have to say that I am a huge Shay Savage fan. I have read and reviewed all of them except for one. It is really breaking my heart that I am giving this book three stars. I am not even sure if I can tell you why and not ruin the book for someone but I am going to try. It all boils down to Seri and her multiple personalities and me not liking at all who she ends up being. Make sense? Probably not but if you read the book it will. This book is told entirely from the male character Bishop’s point of view which I love. I am a huge fan of male points of view and think the world actually needs more of them and Shay Savage has always excelled at giving us the best male points of view in her books. Bishop was really young when he was sent off to prison. Adjusting to the real world had to be one of the scariest things he ever had to face aside from prison. So he finds himself in a extremely remote cabin with not electricity but thankfully running cold water. He is fine living like this as he does not like to be around people. Thankfully the people of the villages or towns that are near him have excepted him and that makes like easier and no one really bothers him. Upon a trip to gather supplies he will need for the long winter so he doesn’t have to leave his cabin which would be impossible, he sees a strange girl in the general store and the owner bust her for stealing donuts. However, Bishops takes pity on the girl and pays for the donuts but when she tries to thank him for them he shuts down and they end with not so nice words and Bishop driving off not giving her a second thought. However, that all changes when he finds her on the side of the road above his cabin nearly frozen to death so he has not choice but to take her home and since there is a storm blowing in he is going to be stuck for the first time with someone other than himself in the cabin. It does not take long for Bishop to start to be able to tell there is something strange about Seri since her name keeps changing and he figures out she has multiple personalities. Too add to the mystery surrounding Seri aka Netti aka Iris, they are in danger. Really serious danger from something that happened with one of the personalities in the past. I found the story interesting for the most part and liked trying to piece the pieces of who is who and who does what together in the story I was just so disappointed with the ending and who these three people became. Like I said if you read the book you will figure out what I am talking about. I can not explain it any further or I am going to give something away. I will tell you that I loved Bishop. Bless his heart he never really had a chance in this life because of his father. He is beyond broken and you just want to wrap him up in your arms to tell him everything is ok and it is not as bad as he seems to think it is. This is a romance and it is also a thriller that you have to piece together so it has some great elements and I hope ya’ll will give it chance. My issue I guess is my own issue as no one else seems to feel the way I do about this book and the outcome.

Shay Savage is an independent author from Cincinnati, Ohio, where she lives with her family and a variety of household pets. She is an accomplished public speaker and holds the rank of Distinguished Toastmaster from Toastmasters International. Her hobbies include off-roading in her big, yellow Jeep, science fiction in all forms, and soccer. Savage holds a degree in psychology, and she brings a lot of that knowledge into the characters within her stories.

From the author: “It’s my job to make you FEEL. That doesn’t always mean you’ll feel good, but I want my readers to be connected enough to my characters to care.”

Savage’s books many books span a wide variety of topics and sub-genres with deeply flawed characters. From cavemen to addicts to hitmen, you’ll find yourself falling for these seemingly irredeemable characters!
