Let me start by admitting that Pam Godwin is one of my favorite authors.I have read all of her books and absolutely loved every one of them, and this one is no different.
One Look. One Promise. One Forever. All it took was one look for Danni and Cole to fall in love. It didn’t take much more than that, and they were living together. Their love was deep, and their chemistry was explosive. After living together for a few months, Cole tells Danni that he has to go to Iraq for one year. Danni is devastated but determined to make things work. Once Cole left, the communication was limited, so when she hadn’t heard from him in months she really didn’t think anything of it. Until a man in uniform showed up at her house and told her Cole was dead.Unable to face her grief, she spends her days and nights at the bottom of a bottle. Finally, with the help of her sister, she cleans herself up. She starts belly dancing at a local Moroccan restaurant, and she likes it. When she meets the restaurant’s new owner, he is rude and demanding. He loves to watch her dance. It is obvious that these two are highly attracted to one another. The problem is whenever they get close, Trace pushes her away. They are playing a toxic game of cat and mouse. They go back and forth slinging barbs and trying their best to hurt one another. Finally, they decide to sit down and talk. They decide to move slow and try to make things work out for them. Just as they are making progress with their relationship, someone from the past shows up threatening to destroy what they have together. I loved, loved this book! So much so that I read the entire thing in one sitting. Once I started, I was hooked. There was no way I could go to bed without knowing how it ended. I will tell you that there is one heck of a cliffhanger! I am so glad the next book, Two is a Lie, is set to be released July 11th of this year! Yay! We won’t have to wait long!

One Is A Promise is the first book in Pam Godwin’s Tangled Lies Series. This is a three book series so you should expect cliffhangers at the end of a couple of the books.

Danni took one look at Cole and knew he was hers. He is a dark rebel in leather. A powerhouse of passion, devastating smiles, and impulsiveness. He has a job though that sends him overseas and he promised to return to Danni. It’s a promise that destroyed Danni in the most irrevocable ways. Fast forward two years and in to her life comes a arrogant suit. He is clean-cut and stern and everything that Cole wasn’t. Trace is a job that will save Danni’s dance company until he invades her life and their hostile relationship evolves. Trace knows that Danni is still in love with Cole, but his dedication to her is Danni’s undoing. Promises resurface. Lies will entangle, and Danni will have an impossible choice that will shatter her world. She loves two men and can only have one.

I’m just not even sure where to start. My emotions are all over the place right now. I do know that once you pick this book up you will not put it down. You will have so many emotions running through you at the same time as Danni. Heck I even had to lay my kindle down and walk away I got so mad at one point. I love these characters so much and I swear to you I fell in love with Trace as Danni was falling in love with him. Danni is one amazingly strong character. This poor girl has been through the ringer as far as her love life is concerned. She found her forever and he promised her he would never leave and would return from a trip overseas for his job. However he doesn’t and Danni is destroyed. Who in the world wouldn’t be and I was hurt right along with Danni. She grieves and bless her heart is trying her best to move one with her life. Cue Trace and a job she just can’t refuse right along with Trace himself. For the first time in two years she is feeling things again. My heart jumped for joy!! Dang it Danni deserves to be happy. And then…..well you just have to read and find out. I will promise you you will be on the edge of your seat with you hand over your mouth reading just as hard as you can and bam the end. Thank goodness we don’t have long to wait to see what happens next.

Pam Godwin is amazing. If you have never read her you are missing some of the most amazing books on the planet. I have read them all and loved them all in equal measure for different reasons. Pam Godwin can write some dark stuff that will have you hiding in a corner rocking back and forth and she can melt your heart. One is a Promise is absolutely without a doubt one of the best books that I have read this year. I can not wait for more and know that they other two books will be equally as amazing as this one was. DO NOT MISS THIS BOOK. You can thank me later once you have experienced the greatness that is Danni, Cole and Trace.
