INTERVIEW

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

My kids are my world. I’m a single mom to two. My son is 14 and a special needs adolescent. My daughter is 4 going on 14. Some days are tough trying to do it all myself. Others, not so much. I just keep trying to do my thing the only way I know how.

List five adjectives to describe yourself.

Determined, shy, honest, nerdy, loyal

Name one funny trait you have, that you would like others to know.

I have a fear of flying kites. Don’t ask me why or where it came from. I just can’t bring myself to take my kids out to fly them.

What made you want to become a writer?

I’ve always written. Just recently I realized I have a story to tell, one that others might enjoy reading.

Do you have a day job as well?

I am a stay at home mother currently struggling to rebuild our lives after leaving an abusive relationship.

Name 2 things you consider yourself to be very good at.

I’m a great listener and I also think I’m very good at procrastinating lol

Name 2 things you consider yourself to be very bad at.

I’m terrible at prioritizing and organization. I’m working hard at trying to better myself in both these areas.

When people look at me, they would never guess that I:

Suffer from agoraphobia and severe social anxiety.

Tell us about your book.

Which one? LOL. Seriously, I have 5 works in progress that I’ve been trying to finish. The first one is a paranormal romance. The main characters are an angel and a wolf shifter (not to be confused with a werewolf).  The angel is a bounty hunter who comes up against a siren who happens to be after her wolf. It sounds complicated but I assure you, it’s a lot of fun. Another work in progress is “Sebastien’s Temptation,” the first part of a 5 part series of novellas which tells the story of Sebastien and his curse. I’m also currently working on the story of my abuse and how I finally found the strength to leave. That will be published under a pen name to protect certain members of my family as well as my children and probably won’t be released this year. And my favorite, so far, is the story of a girl tormented by her own self doubt who finally finds what she’s truly been missing all her life, someone to love her for who she is. It’s a paranormal romance, dark and sinister at times but with a happily ever after ending.

My published story is in an anthology titled “He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not.” The story is called “Ruby,” which is about a woman who finds herself in love with someone but she’s not sure how he feels about her. She continues to meet with him when he’s in town despite her feelings for him and soon finds out how he really feels about her. It’s a sweet, erotic story of love and desire.

Where do you get your ideas?

My ideas generally stem from my dreams although some come from real life experiences. Music is another huge inspiration for me as well as some things I see on television. Believe it or not, one of my WIPs is a result of seeing a Jack Daniels commercial.

Are experiences in the book based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Some of them are, yes. Mostly, my characters are as flawed as I am and show a  strength of character I hope to find some day.

Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way either growing up or as an adult?

Growing up, I loved to read Stephen King and Dean Koontz. I broadened my horizons as I grew up, realizing I loved crime novels. I read Patricia Cornwell and James Patterson as well as John Grisham and many others. Then I fell in love with paranormal romance, finding Laurell K Hamilton and her Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series to be some of my favorite books.

I love Disney movies so If you can be a Disney character, who would you be and why?

This is a tough question. I have a couple of answers actually. One, I would pick Belle, because, damn that woman has a huge library. Two, I would pick Alice from Alice in Wonderland. That girl has some amazing adventures. And third, I would pick Cinderella. What girl doesn’t want her happily ever after with Prince Charming.

Out now for Stephanie He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not

hlmhlmn

All little girls, and some little boys, know the game ‘He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not’. Each one who plays hopes to end on the ‘He Loves Me’ petal. But how many of us really find that perfect mate? That one partner who will love us unconditionally for the rest of our lives? How many of us really live the dream, and how many live through the heartbreak of ending on the ‘He Loves Me Not’ petal?

‘He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not’ is an anthology of ten stories told from ten different perspectives on love and romance. Some have happy endings, while others end in tears, on a note of desperation, or even a new beginning. A few of the stories are fantasies come true, some steamy encounters of wanton lust, and others still are tales of woe – but the one thing they all have in common – they answer the age old question; does he love me, or does he not?

I am glad that I looked at my TSU today as I had not come across Stephanie before I am glad now I will be heading over to see her books on Amazon

  2. Liz

Very interesting interview! Love finding new authors 🙂 Looking forward to checking out her book. Gonna head over to her FB page now.

  3. I’ve known Stephanie several years now. Don’t let her fool you, she’s more organized than she thinks. She often gets more done in one day than I seem to in a week!

But honestly I’ve seen Stephanie grow in her personal life this last year and in her writing. I’ve had the privilege to beta read several selections of her WIPs. She continues to astound me with her depth and characterizations. I hope everyone checks out her new works. I don’t think anyone will be disappointed!

  4. Stephanie is a truly amazing and inspirational person and you don’t have to know her personally to see that. She is a very giving soul, and her greatest flaw and merit alike is loving too much. I wish her the very best is everything she does, no matter where the wind may take her. <3

  5. I found the interview responses very interesting and wish the author the best of luck in everything she does. The excerpts look interesting too. I definitely think she has a future ahead of her as a popular author.
