Renee’s Five Star Review

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

West Conners has struggles for years to put the pieces of his heart back together after his childhood best friend just disappeared one day. Blake Thomas had been West’s best friend for as long as he could remember. Now making a life for himself in New York and doing the thing he loves most, teaching. However, West never could quiet fill the hole in his heart Blake left behind.

Blake Thomas gets things done. He is a handler for one of the top political fixer groups in the business and he stayed very focused on is work, friends, and one night stands. He has fooled himself into thinking he has conquered his demons until he runs into his best friend West who he was forced to leave behind at sixteen.

Now with their jobs forcing them into a fake relationship, Blake learns something about West and eventually himself. Trying to repair their damaged friendship, they find that moving forward can sometimes lead you back home.

I don’t think I was prepared for how much this book would touch my heart. This is certainly not your typical M/M romance and I loved every single second of it. The characters are so well developed you feel like you could be best friends with West and Blake and the characters that come right along with them. These two have been separated for years but not by any choice of their own. Blake had more or a home with West and his family than he ever did living with his Aunt and Uncle. These two were thick as thieves and one day Blake was just gone. He reappears in West’s life just as fast as he left though it took ten years. Seeing each other is a shock to West but having to fake a relationship with Blake is something he just doesn’t know that he can do. However he isn’t going to have a choice since they are doing it to figure out who is stealing form the community center West devotes all his time too and it forces the two into discovering so many things about each other and the revealing of the past and what happened. These two are home to each other. However West is gay and Blake is not. West has been in love with Blake since he was six years old but never in their entire friendship did he ever tell Blake he was gay. I loved that this story started when West and Blake were young. Poor Blake I would love to have taken him out of his home and given him a home myself. No one could prove what was going on and West’s home and family because Blake’s safety and refuge. This is also a discover of love and what true love mean. It might not be what you think it is going to be or who you think it will be with. It might just surprise the heck out of you. Love is love no matter who you are or who you end up loving more than anything or anyone you ever have.

This is my first book that I have read by K.J. Lewis. I so hope that I get the opportunity to read many more of her books. I loved her writing style, how the story flowed and most of all the way I was so invested in these characters and their life’s. If you are looking for a M/M romance that has heart and not just the physical connection focused on, Mondays with you is the book for you. You do not want to miss it.
