Title: Everything Under the Sun

Author: Jessica Redmerski

Genre: Dystopian

About Everything Under the Sun:

Thais Fenwick was eleven-years-old when civilization fell, devastated by a virus that killed off the majority of the world’s population. For seven years, Thais and her family lived in a community of survivors deep in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. But when her town is attacked by raiders, she and her blind sister are taken away to the East-Central Territory where she is destined to live the cruel and unjust kind of life her late mother warned her about.

Atticus Hunt is a troubled soldier in Lexington City who has spent the past seven years trying to conform to the vicious nature of men in a post-apocalyptic society. He knows that in order to survive, he must abandon his morals and his conscience and become like those he is surrounded by. But when he meets Thais, morals and conscience win out over conformity, and he risks his rank and his life to help her. They escape the city and set out together on a long and perilous journey to find safety in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Struggling to survive in a world without electricity, food, shelter, and clean water, Atticus and Thais shed their fear of growing too close, and they fall hopelessly in love. But can love survive in such dark times, or is it fated to die with them?

Welcome to the post-apocalyptic world of Jessica Redmerski!!! I will tell you this is a long book so don’t expect to sit down and read it in one sitting. There is so much that goes on in this book and I loved that it was told from both Thais and Atticus points of view. These two meet when Thais is forced from her home after losing everything but her sister and is attacked basically in the woods by a group of men who tie them up and haul them to Lexington City. A city that is run by a tyrant and where the women are automatically assigned to three places. To be a worker, to the brothel or to be one of the rulers wives. Atticus has been appointed the temporary Overseer of the city while the usual one is gone off to claim land further north and take that section of the world as we know it over. He is for lack of a better word stuck between a rock and a hard place. Atticus has a conscience and knows that how people are being treated is wrong but at the same time he is a soldier fighting for his own life too. However when everything at this point gets crazy he takes Thais and runs. This is the beginning of them trying to survive all the way to Shreveport, Louisiana where they have been told that the world is made of equal there and the people are safe under their leader. This journey is nothing short of exhausting because believe me when I say your going to be trying to survive right along with these two characters that your going to fall absolutely madly in love with. I was so invested in them. I rooted for them, fell in love with some side characters, fought beside them, it felt like I was really there with them. I had no clue though that this was going to be more than one book and to say the ending of this book about killed me is a understatement. I want that next book right this second as it is killing me to not know what is going on!! If you love a good dystopian book then your not going to want to miss Everything Under The Sun. It is one of the best ones I have read in a good while.
