Jax Walker is a hard
man to resist. He’s tall, dark, and delicious. Harlow didn’t plan on falling
for another, with her heart still stuck on Iain. But it’s so hard with him
gone. And she’s been aching since they last touched. Two whole years of silent
wondering; of desperate sleepless longing. Fate, however, may have other plans.
Just as Harlow’s ready to open herself to new love, her whole world is pulled
into a twisting and painful spiral. In this new adult novel, readers are
consumed by the collision of past and present. Raw and dark, this emotional
minefield is the perfect second book in the continuing story of Harlow Jones.

Harlow Jones has a
troubled past, and a questionable future. Surrounded by death, tragedy, and
intrigue, she is forced to mature long before her time. Plagued by anxiety and
depression, she hides her inner turmoil with spite and sarcasm. Her thick skin
is impenetrable…or so she thought. Until she becomes involved with her grade
twelve English teacher. In this exclusive entry into the new adult genre, with
raw style that is as dark as it is poignant, Collide presents the ultimate
choice: forbidden love or doing the right thing.

Carla’s Collide Review:  *I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

3 stars for Collide by J C Hannigan,

Harlow Jones has suffered from a very troubled past.  After losing her best friend in a car accident, she is just going through the motions of living,  To say that she is unhappy and depressed would be a huge understatement.  When her mom and step dad inform her that they are moving, she could really care less.

On her first day of school, she meets her English teacher, Mr, Bentley and sparks fly immediately.  Harlow knows that dating a teacher is strictly forbidden, but she feels a strong pull to him.  Okay, I have to admit that I found it a little creepy that a 28 yr old man wanted to have a relationship with a 17 year old girl.  The phrase “you love who you love” was used a lot during the book.  My problem with Mr.Bentley is the fact that he is a grown man who should have been able to reject any advances made by Harlow.  I mean if he truly loved her, why couldn’t he wait until she turned 18 and graduated from high school?

Overall, this was an okay read for me.  It does end with a small cliff hanger, and I will definitely read the next book to see how things develop.

Carla’s Consumed Review:

*I was given a copy of this book as a gift by Stephanie’s Book Reports in exchange for an honest review.

4 stars for Consumed by J C Hannigan!  I really thought this book brought some much deserved redemption to this author concerning the first book,  Issues were addressed, and I enjoyed this story so much more.

When this story resumes, we learn that Iain Bentley has been released after spending a year in jail for having a sexual relationship with Harlow when she was still a minor.  He has been out a while but has made any attempt to contact Harlow.  Harlow is attending college and working part time at a local coffee shop,  She is still dealing with feelings of rejection from Iain.  She has vowed to steer clear of all relationships.  She meets Jax Walker, and he is a game changer.  She tries her best to resist his charms to no avail.  They begin a relationship, and it doesn’t take long for both of them to fall hard for one another.

One day, Harlow is out shopping, and she runs into Iain.  She goes to talk to him in order to find some closure.  It is obvious that they both love one another, but too much damage has been done.  Before she can sit down and tell Jax about her run in with Iain, a nightmare from her past shows up, and she is almost killed.  When Iain shows up on her doorstep, how will Harlow react?  Which man will she choose?

This was a very enjoyable book.  I really enjoyed the story line as well as the characters.  This is a book I would easily recommend.
