This is a standalone dark romance that you need to heed the warning in the beginning of the book of. It is a dark romance and may contain triggers for some people. Markus is a man who avoids women at all costs for everyone safety. However the second he spots Fallon and the similarities that she has to someone he use to care about, at the auction, he knows he has to have her and will pay any price. Fallon is this feisty woman who you would think would rebel and not put up with being bought at an auction but she has this side of her that is really timid and needy. This brings me to Markus and a side of him you never thought you would ever see. What should be a relationship filled with the fact that there should be hate there since he bought her isn’t really there and things are not as they seem. What we get is a really steamy couple who get really close and ride this roller coaster of a story with the twist and turns and some surprises that will shock you. I loved reading this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat at times but not once did I lay the book down until it was done.

Fallon and Markus have a tumultuous beginning. The story is dark, and gritty and anyone should be aware that there are triggers. I like how this writing does dark though. They are sensitive to the subject matter and even when you should be cringing, you can’t help but be riveted to the pages. I couldn’t put this down. The scenes are hot and the relationship moves along nicely once Fallon and Markus actually get to know each other.
