Every kiss binds them together.

Behind Closed Doors, an all new steamy and suspenseful Rochester novella from New York Times bestselling author Skye Warren and 1001 Dark Nights, is available now!

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Skye Warren comes the next installment in her Rochester series.

Marjorie Dunn is hiding in plain sight. The past can’t find her at the peaceful inn she owns in a quiet coastal town in Maine.

Until Sam Brewer walks through the door. He arrives in the dead of night, with a dark suit and storm-gray eyes.

Marjorie knows better than to trust this stranger, but she can’t resist his touch. Every kiss binds them together. Every night draws the danger close.

She risks her heart with him, but more than that, she risks her life.

The past has caught up with her. And it wants her dead.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Renee’s Five Star Review I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
This is a Rochester Novella and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the this book. If you have been reading the Rochester series you’re just as excited as am. If you haven’t read the series yet, don’t think that you can’t read this one. It works without the other book and would be a great introduction to the Rochester’s for readers who haven’t yet met then. Then I highly recommend that you move on over to the other books about the Rochester family. Have you ever just wanted to have some peace and quiet in you life and while your enjoyed the bliss of that it would be amazing to have the man of your dreams right beside you.? After all when you have suffered a lot of loss you just need the escape but maybe not while all kids of enemies are lurking about. This is a fast paced story that has some edge of your seat moments. This story is about Marjorie and Sam. She has been hiding for most of her life. There have been a lot of bad moments but the last five years have been good to her and she can almost but not quiet forget that someone is still hunting for her. Sam has a job to do. A very serious job and he can’t afford to have feelings for anyone or about anything. But Marjorie is a major temptation for him and he knows he can’t have her but that doesn’t make the way he feels go away. You have to read the story to find out what happens. If I keep typing I am going to give something away!!

Excerpt

“Tell me more about you, Marjorie Dunn.” “I like it here in Eben Cape.” She watches me carefully as she says this. Worried I might reject this idea, maybe. But hell. It’s nice here. It could be a home. “I tried to make a life that my parents would have been proud of. They probably never imagined I’d own an inn, but they’d like it here, I think. They’d think it was peaceful. They’d understand wanting to live in a small town. It’s beautiful, even in the winter. It’s calm. No monsters lurking in the shadows, except…” “Except?” Her brow furrows. “No place is perfect. I’ve met some men here who made life difficult. My friend Emily’s husband was one of those. He’s gone now.” “Because of you?” She snorts. “No. He got into an argument with her brother, and he was killed. It was the talk of the town last year. Made me nervous to think about people killing each other. I didn’t like that. I was relieved when things quieted down. Relieved for Emily, especially.” Marjorie finds another one of my scars and focuses on it. “Do the scars still bother you?” “No.” It’s tough to get closer to her, but I manage another inch. “That’s the thing about scars. They grow over with tissue that doesn’t have nerve endings. They don’t feel any pain. They’re basically dead.” “It is a little like death,” she agrees. “But you’re still alive.” “The scars will be with me forever. Same with the hidden ones. Those wounds are covered in the same scar tissue. I don’t feel anything.” That’s what I’ve told myself for years. It’s bullshit. I feel things looking into Marjorie’s eyes. It’s bullshit for her, too. Her wounds are there in her heart. She’s built this inn as a guard for them, and she’s been doing a damn good job. “I wish I felt less sometimes. You know…” Another thoughtful sigh. “I’ve made a home here, but it’s not the same. Nobody ever stays for long. Maybe that’s just how life is.” The promise is on my lips. I won’t leave. But of course I will. That’s the job. That’s my life. It’s not going to happen this minute, though. Not in the next hour. Not even today. Fuck it. I’m staying with her at least for today. I let myself indulge in the fantasy. I normally don’t do that. Imagination can keep you alive through a dark night, but this isn’t about imagination. It’s about being in this moment. I fold my arms around the beautiful innkeeper in my bed. “Tell me more.”
