Stephanie’s 4 Star Review:
I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
This is the second book in the White House series and you must read Mr. President prior to reading Commander in Chief. Please don’t read any further until you read the first book.
Commander in Chief find Matt being inaugurated into the office of President of the United States (POTUS). Since he’s a single man he’s one of the few President’s with out a First Lady (FLOTUS). He asks one of his campaign assistants – Charlotte – to be his acting First Lady. This way he can have her by his side and they can continue their pursuit of getting to know one another.
Charlotte has always had a crush on Matt Hamilton. His magnetism, even as a child, was so great she was instantly smitten. I think for her she knew he was it when she was younger. Though she didn’t think it would ever be in the cards for her to be with someone like Matthew.
These two and their relationship – keeping it a secret from everyone including the public – has to be hard on the relationship itself. Not to mention holding down very public, very influential jobs. I love how Charlotte stepped right into the FLOUTS role without much of an issue. Her love for the country is so obvious – no one could argue with the choice of acting First Lady.
There’s not much conflict in this novel. It truly is a fairy tale love story. I would equate it to being similar to Kate Middleton and Prince William’s. Author Katy Evans has done an excellent job at detailing Matthew and Charlotte’s relationship as well as their responsibilities to their country.
I am 100% sure you will enjoy this story if you loved Mr. President.
