Breaking Free by Alexis Noelle Blog Tour Review

Book Description:

Holly James is trying to move on with her life, but it’s not easy. She can’t stand to be touched by anyone, not even her own family. She is a lost broken shell of the person that she used to be. She realizes that shutting everyone out is much easier then opening up and letting someone hurt her.

Drew Walker is no prince charming. He doesn’t care about anyone but himself and has no intention of changing. He loves the life of excitement and entitlement that comes with being the lead singer of a band, and has no plans to get tied down anytime soon.

When these two meet there is an immediate chemistry. The thing that surprises Holly is that she can tolerate his touch. He makes her feel like herself once again and gives her the freedom and comfort she has been desperate to find. On the other hand he is self-centered, egotistical, and everything that she should stay away from.

What happens when the one person who can save you might also be the person who can break you?

“There was something about Drew, but I had no idea what it was. He was self-centered, cocky, and definitely not prince charming. Maybe that’s why I liked him though. Maybe I didn’t want to be saved by the handsome prince. Maybe I wanted to be corrupted by the evil king.”

Stephanie’s 4 Star Review:

Holly’s book is a spin off of the Guarded Hearts series that I just love.  Holly’s brother Carter was one of my favorite male characters until Drew Walker!  Drew is one take prisoners and ask for forgiveness never.  HA!

Holly is having a terrible time easing herself back into her everyday life.  In the last book of the Guarded Hearts series she was kidnapped, bound, and shoved in a trunk of a car.  She has asthma so you can see where this would cause other issues.  After all this Holly can’t stand to be touched by anyone.  Every touch hurts – fire type pain – crippling her body.  Becoming an hermit is not an option as her friends and family will drag her kicking and screaming if she doesn’t do something.  Anything.

When she meets Drew Walker – quite by accident and no knowledge of who he was – she immediately noticed she didn’t mind his touch at all.  She felt at peace and that scared her to death.  Now, Drew….he’s an alpha male, maybe a little spoiled, but definitely head over heels about Holly the instant he meets her.

This all makes for an interesting story as Drew gets what he wants – always.  Yet Holly doesn’t submit easily.  She makes him totally work for it.  Their story is tumultuous at best.  However, their feelings for each other are fast and completely in love.

I love these two characters.  Holly is no nonsense and Drew is well…he’s Drew.  There are some funny moments in this book as well as some sad ones.  It was a very quick read for me once I started the book.  I could totally visualize each of the scenes as I read them.  I would have loved for the story to be longer.  I felt like it was over before it began that’s how quick it read for me.
