Let me rephrase that… I never wanted to be here.   I didn’t ask for any of this. Not the society I was born into. Definitely not the academy I’m supposed to attend. And sure as hell not the group I’m forced to play nice with. Unfortunately, one too many school suspensions has catapulted me into the world I swore I’d never live in. Boulder Cove Academy: Where The Lawless reign and those beneath them are nothing but ash between their fingertips. The three leaders of this place—Crew, Jagger, and Neo—have always been an aching thorn in my side. When things get ugly, I have no choice but to turn to the boys I loathe. Acceptance means I become a slave to their darkest desires. Bones to rattle. A mind to shake. In the thick of it all, I begin to see the truth. They never intended to help me. They only want to destroy me.   One game at a time.

Renee’s Five Star Review

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

If you haven’t read Dark Desire yet then I suggest you don’t start this book before you read that one. It is about Scarlett’s mom and dad and how she came to be but I also think there might be some clues in that book that will apply to this one.
Welcome to Boulder Cove Academy. An Academy for the Society kids that is run by the Lawless. But you have to be from certain families to get in and only go for your Junior and Senior years of high school. The idea to to prepare you for the life you about to have as one of the Society families. However Scarlett never had any intention of going to this school. She was fine with going to public school and with he best friend Maddie dreamed of finishing school and having nothing to do with Society things again. Scarlett grew up with Jagger, Crew and Neo who is Maddie’s brother. They always favored Maddie and the other two boys followed Neo’s every whim and command. Now they are the kings of Boulder Cove Academy and rule it as The Lawless. They didn’t matter much to Scarlett but they are more than determined to get her to the school and make her pay. She wasn’t going to let that happen by it does and she is alone and scared really, but would never let that happen. Thrilled with her new roomie who is he polar opposites she is shocked to learn things about the way the students are forced in to tiers and the only way to not have to go through being a slave to the Lawless is to opt out of the title your given and play the games. This is mainly for juniors but since Scarlett comes in as a senior and hasn’t gone through any of this she is forced to either accept her title or play the games. Of course Scarlett choses the games and it is one from that moment one. Crew just wants her back as they had a secret relationship, Jagger is decent to her but he too wants to make her his and to his high disdain Neo hates her and with him being the boss of his friends they do everything he says to Scarlett weather they agree with it or not. I can not tell you why she was brought there by the guy, or why Neo hates her so much. I can’t tell you about the games. I can’t tell you anything really. But I can tell you that this book was amazing and had me guessing at every turn and new thing that would happen. There comes a time when Scarlett will be forced to ask the Lawless for help. But will they really help her or is this their opportunity to exact the revenge they have been waiting for years to get. You have to read and find out but there are things going on in this book that will have you guessing and then closing the book needing the next one right this second. I loved Scarlett. She is such a tough little lady who takes no crap and gives it back to the Lawless as good as they give it. She isn’t afraid of them like the rest of the school and she wasn’t going to let them destroy. But deep down she is a girl who is suffering from events you will discover and she has even bigger problems than The Lawless. I loved Jagger. He is my absolute favorite of the guys. He seems to have a brain of his own and he will have some moments with Scarlett that will melt your heart. Crew is growing on me though I am kind of really mad at him for some things and you will see why when you read the book. I hope he doesn’t let me down and gets his stuff together totally in the next book. Neo, well he is mystery and stays that way. He is a little confusing but his main goal in live is to make Scarlett pay or his life will not be complete. If you like your books that keep you one your toes and guessing to the very end you need this book in your life.
