Renee’s 5 Star Review:

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

A cruel, darkly handsome stranger from the most dangerous corners of Russia came for me in the middle of the night. He’s on a mission of vengeance and in the process he destroyed me by ripping my whole world apart. Now he’s back but not for my secrets. He came back for me.

Get ready to meet Peter Sokolov and Sara. Peter’s life has been tragically altered. Things that never should have happened did and cost Peter everything. Now he’s got his hit list and is on a mission to destroy every single person on it. One of those men is Sara’s husband. Sara can provide the answers that Peter needs and he tortures her to get them. One of his methods though reveal the true desires of Sara and Peter just can’t let that go. He has to have her and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to get Sara to be his.

Oh this book. It is twisted. I don’t know that it was so dark as it was wow what the heck are these people thinking. Is it possible to fall for a man who has tortured you and taken away the life you knew? How could you even begin to be attracted to him? No doubt Peter is one good looking man and he has latched onto Sara. She makes him feel alive when all he has felt for years is death and destruction. I liked both these characters. They both seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time to me. Peter could have made different decisions and perhaps his life wouldn’t have been altered in one tragic day. Sara though is healer and it’s her job to take care of women bringing new life into the world. It’s the perfect mix of light and darkness. I really liked this book and then just when my heart rate was up and my mind was going in fifty different directions I got Thank you for reading. So yes we have to wait to know what finally happens to these people and to get the answers we want. To say I need Obsession Mine right this second is a understatement.

I also think I have read someplace that readers of Anna Zaries Twist Me Series knew who Peter was. Me, I was clueless as I’ve not read that series yet. Even with that said Tormentor Mine can be read as a standalone. I felt like I knew Peter just as well as anyone who has read the Twist Me Series. Which by the way I have heard is amazing so you probably want to check that out too.

**Carla’s Five Star Review

Ok, if there is one thing that Anna Zaires knows how to do, it is to write dark romance. I loved her Twist Me series. In fact, we were first introduced to Peter Sokolov in that series. Poor Peter is living with a tragic past, and he is out for one thing-vengeance. He has a “hit list”, and he doesn’t plan to stop until every name on that list is decimated. Peter discovers that he needs some information, and who better to get it from than the man’s wife, Sara?

Sara thought she had a pretty good marriage until secrets kept popping up like roaches. Peter came to her house one night, and Sara could sense his presense before actually even seeing him. Peter is there for information, and he is determined to get what he wants by using any method necessary. He uses various forms of torture on Sara, and he finally gets the intel he was looking for. Peter leaves, and Sara hopes and prays she will never see him again.

Poor Sara can’t get over the way Peter tortured her. And Peter? He decides to put his revenge on hold and pursue a relationship with Sara. I mean what could possibly go wrong with that plan? Sara is not some damsel in distress. She is smart, and she is one heck of a fighter. Despite the way he tortured her, she is not afraid of him , and there are times when she goes toe to toe with Peter.

Peter and Sara’s story is not light and fluffy, it is dark and sometimes haunting. I think fans like me will have no problem connecting to these awesome characters. The way these characters grow and evolve is simply awe inspiring. I will tell you that this book ends in a cliffhanger. I am hopeful that some unanswered questions that I have will be resolved in the next book. Will Sara’s love be enough to stop Peter on his quest for vengeance?

Even though Tormentor Mine continues from other stories, it can be read as a stand alone. But, if I was you, I would read all of the Twist ME series because they are all awesome!

Read an Excerpt from Sara’s POV

I meet his gaze, and everything inside me jolts. It feels like I got shocked with a defibrillator. For the first time, I see him in the light of day without alcohol or drugs in my system.

For the first time, I fully comprehend how dangerous he is.

He’s leaning back in his chair, his long, jean-clad legs stretched out and crossed at the ankles under the small round table. It’s a casual pose, but there’s nothing casual about the dark power that rolls off him in waves. He’s not just dangerous; he’s lethal. I see it in the metallic ice of his gaze and the coiled readiness of his large body, in the arrogant set of his jaw and the cruel curve of his lips.

This is a man who lives and breathes violence, an apex predator for whom rules of society don’t exist.

A monster who’s tortured and killed countless people.

The surge of anger and hatred that comes with the thought cuts through my fear, and I take a step forward, then another and another until I’m walking toward him on almost steady legs. If he wanted to kill me, he could’ve already done it in a million different ways, so whatever he wants today must be something different.

Something even more evil.

“Hello, Sara,” he says, rising to his feet as I approach. “It’s good to see you again.”

His deep voice wraps around me, his soft Russian accent caressing my ears. It should sound ugly, that voice from my nightmares, but like everything else about him, it’s deceptively appealing.

“What do you want?” I’m being rude, but I don’t care. We’re long past politeness and good manners. There’s no use pretending this is a normal get-together.

The only reason I’m here is because not showing up could endanger my parents.

“Please, sit.” He motions to the chair across from him and sits down. “I took the liberty of ordering a cup of coffee for you. Black, no sugar… and decaf, since you’re not working today.”

I glance at the second cup—prepared exactly the way I would’ve ordered it—then meet his gaze again. My heart drums in my throat, but my voice is even as I say, “You have been watching me.”

“Yes, of course. But you figured that out last night, didn’t you?”

I flinch. I can’t help it. If he saw me try to make that call, then he saw me stagger drunkenly into the bathroom and come out naked.

If he’s been watching me for a while, he’s seen me in all sorts of private moments.

“Sit, Sara.” He gestures at the chair again, and this time, I obey—if only to give myself a chance to calm down. Rage and fear are a tangle of live wires in my chest, and I feel like I’m one deep breath away from exploding.

I’ve never been a violent person, but if I had a gun on me, I’d shoot him. I’d blow his brains all over the trendy Starbucks wall.

“You hate me.” He says it calmly, as a statement of fact rather than a question, and I stare at him, caught off-guard.

Does he read minds, or am I that transparent?

“It’s okay,” he says, and I catch a glimmer of amusement in his eyes. “You can admit it. I promise not to hurt you today.”

Today? What about tomorrow and the day after? My hands form into fists under the table, my nails digging into my skin. “Of course I hate you,” I say as steadily as I can manage. “Is that a surprise?”

“No, of course not.” He smiles, and my lungs tighten, preventing me from breathing. It’s not a perfect smile—his teeth are white, but one is slightly crooked on the bottom, and his lower lip has a tiny scar that wasn’t visible until now—but it’s magnetic nonetheless.

It’s a smile nature designed for one purpose only: to lure in unwary women and make them forget the monster underneath.
