Broken promises and disappointment.

Megan Campbell knows them all too well.

Renee’s Three Star Review

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

Wow I’m not even sure how to describe this book without giving something away. The gist of the story is Megan is to Conner hers high school sweetheart. They have a little girl Laney. Suddenly tragedy strikes and Laney is badly injured in a car accident. Laney’s care is Left in the  hand of the man who has only ever loved Megan Dr Kristoff. Megan has known him forever and he is her friend. he so wants to be the hero that Megan and Laney so desperately need.

Have mercy I can say I hated Conner through this entire book but that’s an understatement. He’s horrible. No way does he deserve Laney or Megan. As much as I couldn’t stand Conner Laney is the one whole steals the entire show. You can’t help but fall in love with this child. I read and read and just knew I was going to get the ending I needed but I didn’t and it left me confused and disappointed. Maybe it was just me. Maybe there is more to this story and I just don’t know it’s coming. Perhaps that is the end and I just didn’t get it. Either  way I felt cheated as a reader and I’m not thrilled. It could have been perfection but it just fell flat for me.

*Carla’s Three Star Review

Megan Campbell thought she had it all. She was married to Connor, her high school sweetheart, and together they shared a beautiful daughter named Laney. Everything was perfect until the night she walked in and found a strange woman sitting in her kitchen. Things go from bad to worse when she learns that Laney has been badly injured in a car accident. Of course, she is distraught, but she feels a little better when she learns that her long time friend and now respected surgeon, Dr. Garrett Kristoff, is in charge of Laney’s care. As the days pass, the secrets surrounding her marriage and family just keep on coming, but Megan’s sole focus is helping her daughter heal.

Garrett has only ever loved one woman, and that woman is Megan Campbell. Even though he hates the circumstances that brought Megan back into his life, he is determined to be there for her and her daughter. He secretly hopes that this might be fate’s way of offering them a second chance at love. His main goal is to hopefully become the hero that Megan and Laney so desperately need.

From the start, I hated Connor with a passion, and that hate only grew stronger at the way he treated his family. They deserved so much better, and, in my opinion, Garrett was the best. While I loved Megan and Garrett, it was little Laney that stole the show! She was pure sunshine! Her love and loyalty to her mom really touched my heart. I was super happy when it appeared that the story would end with a HEA, and, it did, sort of. The last two chapters had me shaking my head and asking “What the heck just happened?” I really hope there is a follow up book because I was left with a lot of unanswered questions.
