She likes picking up her camera because it allows her to see things through a different lens. Like when she lost her job recently and instead of focusing on what she’s forced to leave behind, she zooms in on the new options opening up in front of her. Or when a dangerous looking silver fox comes rolling up her path on a FatBoy, and her digital output shows a deep loneliness, matching her own, in his ice-blue eyes.

But when she’s working on making her dreams come true, she inadvertently captures something in her viewfinder she can’t un-see.

He wasn’t supposed to be here, but he can’t seem to escape his old life. Stuck in an old trailer in the mountains, he walks a fine line between ruse and reality. With the arrival of a young-looking pixie—who turns out to be a full grown, hot-blooded woman—his balance is thrown.

He tries to avoid her, but with the little pixel peeper snapping everything in sight, she unintentionally risks his exposure.

And his focus needs to be sharp to keep her from danger.

*Carla’s Five Star Review

Shutter Speed is a quick and enjoyable novella that introduces us to Isla and Ben. Isla is a woman who is no stranger to loss. After losing her job, she readily agrees to take over managing a campground for her uncle while he cares for his ailing wife. Her plan is to place all of her focus on fine tuning her photography skills, but that all changes when a silver fox on a fat boy Harley roars into her life.

Ben’s life is not what it appears to be. Losing his focus for even a second could mean the difference between life and death, so when a little pixie with a big mouth and even bigger attitude shows up, he knows he is in trouble. When Isla unknowingly captures something on her camera that could really put her in danger, his goal is to keep her safe. Can he protect her without exposing himself?

Wow, this novella is amazing! Even though this is just an introduction to Isla and Ben’s story, it wasn’t rushed or lacking of content. Isla and Ben are both endearing characters who only made me want to know more of their story, and guess what?? Freeze Frame, a full length novel continuing their story, will be released in March! Such an awesome job, Freya! You certainly have me hooked!

Renee’s 5 Star Review:
I received a copy of his book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

Shutter Speed is a novella that is the prequel to Freya Bakers next book Freeze Frame. In Shutter Speed we meet Ben and Isla. Isla agrees to help her uncle out and manage the campground for him when he needs to attend to a personal matter. Ben is a somewhat mysterious camper at the campground. But all is not as it seems to be in the campground,.

I really liked that Shutter Speed had an element of what the heck is going on in it. But, I really loved that Ben and Isla were an older couple. He’s a Harley riding silver fox who’s in his forties. Isla is nearly forty and loves photography. I thought this book was a fast easy read. I can’t wait to see what Ben and Isla get in to next.

Title: Freeze Frame
Series: A SNAPshot Novel
Author: Freya Barker and KT Dove
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date:  Coming Soon

A new career, a new place, and a new man—you’d think after the rough year she’s had, Isla has finally found her stride. Of course it’s never that simple. Some dreams she is building, some dreams are taken away before they have a chance to form. But she never imagined that the one thing she’s worked so hard to realize, could be the cause it all breaks apart.

Ben doesn’t miss his assignments, his life of deceit, or his unsavory associations—but they appear to miss him. Just as he’s beginning to think perhaps there’s redemption for him after all, his dark past casts a long shadow.—and not just on him, but on the woman who made him believe.
Freya Barker inspires with her stories about ‘real’ people, perhaps less than perfect, each struggling to find their own slice of happy. She is the author of the Cedar Tree Series and the Portland, ME, novels.
Freya is the recipient of the RomCon “Reader’s Choice” Award for best first book, “Slim To None,” and is a finalist for the 2016 Kindle Book Awards for “From Dust”. She currently has two complete series and three anthologies published, and is working on two new series; La Plata County FBI—ROCK POINT, and Northern Lights. She continues to spin story after story with an endless supply of bruised and dented characters, vying for attention!

KT Dove grew up, and still lives, in the Midwest. At an early age she developed a love of reading, driving the local librarians crazy, and would plan plot lines and stories for her favorite characters. KT received degrees in English, Speech/Drama, and Education. And yet instead of becoming an English teacher as planned, she opted for an unexpected HEA.

Now married, a mother and still an avid reader, she stumbled upon the Indie author movement and became involved on several levels. Never in her wildest imagination would she have thought she would co-author a book. With the support of her family, she took the plunge, adding writing to an already busy literary existence.

She wouldn’t have it any other way.
