Description:

Avery Bardot steps off the plane in Rome, looking for a fresh start. She’s left behind a soon-to-be ex-husband in Boston and plans to spend the summer with her best friend Daisy, licking her wounds—and perhaps a gelato or two. But when her American-expat friend throws her a welcome party on her first night, Avery’s thrown for a loop when she sees a man she never thought she’d see again: Italian architect Marcello Bianchi.

Marcello was the man—the one who got away. And now her past is colliding with her present, a present where she should be mourning the loss of her marriage and—hey, that fettuccine is delicious! And so is Marcello…

Slipping easily into the good life of summertime in Rome, Avery spends her days exploring a city that makes art historians swoon, and her nights swooning over her unexpected what was old is new again romance. It’s heady, it’s fevered, it’s wanton, and it’s crazy. But could this really be her new life? Or is it just a temporary reprieve before returning to the land of twin-set cardigans and crustless sandwiches?

A celebration of great friendship, passionate romance, and wonderful food, Roman Crazy is a lighthearted story of second chances and living life to the fullest.

Stephanie’s 4 Star Review:

I received a copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review.

I’ve read a couple novels by Alice Clayton and Nina Bocci is new to the writing novels scene.  I was excited to see this announcement when they started talking about Roman Crazy and when it was going to be available for bloggers to review.

I took my time reading this book.  It was easy to stop and pick up right where I left off without forgetting where I stopped in the story and having to refresh myself.  That was one of the things I liked about this book.  No matter where I was in the story it always clicked right back for me.

So the story line – I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop during the whole story but it was very easy going.  A tad bit of angst but nothing overly difficult to get through.  It is a comedy story after all.  So as you read you’ll find some attributes that will have you giggling.

The details in this story – gosh.  I would LOVE to go to Italy now just to see all the sights mentioned in this story.  The fountains.  Steps.  Fresco’s.  Gosh, what history is waiting on every corner in Rome.  I could easily visualize as I was reading.  Just thinking about the food makes my mouth water.

Back to the book – HA!  Alice and Nina have done a seamless job of putting this story together.  They are very descriptive and the characters are extremely loveable.  There’s a trio of girlfriends that may remind you of the Sex in the City girls.  I would have loved to have read more with them all together in this book.

I think you will enjoy Roman Crazy.  It has a great mix of fun, history, friends, family, and romance.  Oh the romance!  Enjoy!
