Reviews of Beautiful Disaster & Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire

INTENSE. DANGEROUS. ADDICTIVE.

Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

Cassy’s Review:

Beautiful Disaster truly is the perfect title for this spectacular story. It’s beautiful at times and has you feeling all warm and fuzzy one moment, and then it rips your heart out and has you screaming the next. Jamie McGuire has written a perfect dichotomy of emotions. There’s action, romance, passion, angst, heartache, love, hate, jealousy, rage, tempers, as well as some comedy thrown in there. This book pulled me in and didn’t let go. I was addicted and needed more and more of Travis and Abby. I couldn’t get enough.

Travis “Mad Dog” Maddox is the epitome of the “Bad Boy”. He’s tattooed and all kinds of yummy. Every girl on campus wants him and every guy wants to be him. Travis is the man-whore your daddy warns you about. Travis has a line of college girls waiting for him to charm their socks..ahem…panties off. He has no problem getting any woman he wants, that is, until Abby Abernathy comes along. When he meets her at one of his fights, he is baffled at her resistance to his charms. He becomes intrigued by her and decides Abby is someone he needs to be friends with. Dubbing her the nickname “Pigeon” they quickly become “just friends”. After all, Travis is everything Abby knows she doesn’t need. She’s a good girl and has a different plan for herself. She has her own past that she left behind when coming to Eastern University. Then comes “The Bet” and has to screw everything up.

I so loved this book. It will go down as one of my top 10 books for years to come. It has earned a spot on my special book shelf along with other favorites that I will cherish forever. Well done, Jamie! 5 well deserved stars from me!

Walking Disaster

Walking Disaster

Finally, the highly anticipated follow-up to the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster.

Can you love someone too much?

Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes

Cassy’s Review:

Walking Disaster is Beautiful Disaster from Travis’ point of view. I loved Beautiful Disaster so much, I HAD to read this one right away. I was a little leery of reading this because I was afraid that I’d be reading the same story twice. Jamie McGuire is brilliant and has written this story so well that I wasn’t disappointed at all. I desperately wanted to get inside Travis’ mind and pick it apart. This book finally allows us to get to know Travis and why he is the way he is. Things come together and make so much more sense. There’s also more story thrown in, and the epilogue is amazing. I think I enjoyed this story even more than Beautiful Disaster, if that’s even possible! I want more! I’m anticipating more great stories from Jamie McGuire, who is an amazing writer and story teller. Can’t wait to read more about the Maddox family! Another 5 star read!
