Renee’s Five Star Review

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
Gabby Parker seems to have it all. However behind closed doors is a woman who lives in constant fear of the man she is married too and is suppose to love her. Realizing the only way to escape from her violent husband is to kill herself —on paper. From her “death” comes the life of Riley Locklin who resides in the coastal town of Cheeswick Bay Montauk where she hopes to start over and meets a man who shows her bruises aren’t kisses.
Holy cow what a book. I promise it will have you reading as fast as you can and keep you hopping so it is best to pay attention or you will be going back and looking for things you thought you read. If you have triggers to domestic violence too you might not want to read this book. It is full of a sadistic butt who is very controlling and hurts Gabby in more ways than one.
Gabby is married to Kyle Parker. They live a life of wealth but unbeknownst to the rest of the world all is not how it seems when they attend parties. Gabby takes matters into her own hands and fakes her own death with some help and Kyle is left wondering what happened to her and looking at being charged for her murder. This book is told from multiple points of views. You get Gabby, Kyle and the detective on her case Isla. However it may sound like a lot of confusing points of view but it isn’t and you realize this story has more to do with more people than just Gabby.
If you love books that keep you on your toes and one the edge of your seat you do not want to miss Nelumbo Nucifera. Christina Slough has done an amazing job with this book and brought to light a subject matter that gets no where near the attention it deserves.
