A sexy, standalone novel from the New York Times & USA TODAYbestselling author of the Play-by-Play series and Hope series.

Ellie Washington lost her husband in a tragedy five years ago at Christmas. She wouldn’t have made it through her grief if not for her husband’s brother, Nick, who helped her pick up the pieces of her shattered life. And with every year, her feelings for Nick have grown. Now she realizes she might be in love with him, but that’s not fair, because Nick deserves a life that isn’t about his brother’s widow and son.

Sharing his life with Ellie and her son has been the balm that soothed Nick’s soul after losing his brother. Now that friendship has turned into something deeper. Nick doesn’t want to upset the status quo, but someone has to make the first move, and it’s time they figure out if their feelings are real. Nick believes in what they have. He also believes in Christmas miracles, and he thinks they’re both long overdue for one.

Stephanie’s 3 Star Review:

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

This new indie title from Jaci Burton touches on an issue I hear often.  How soon is too soon to love another after your spouse passes?  I’m not sure there’s an answer anyone not inside the relationship that can answer that question.  Everyone’s different.

In this case its been five years.  In that five years, Ellie and her son have lived with her husbands brother, Nick.  He was there for them when his brother was suddenly not with them any longer.  He helped her hold together while the both grieved but still had a child to raise.

Some might say staying with your brother in law for five years is five years too many.  Could be true…if you weren’t living like you were already a couple.

I enjoyed reading about this couple.  Ellie was really infuriating to me.  Simply because she couldn’t see right in front of her face, and she wanted society to dictate when she could move on not her own heart.

This is a quick read and will offer a heart warming story just in time for Christmas.
