synopsis

Katherine “Kitty” Peters is done doing what Daddy says…

When Kitty rebels against her wealthy father, he issues an ultimatum. She has one month to agree with his plans for a suitable marriage, or find her own way without the benefit of all he provides for her.

Taking full advantage of those precious weeks, Kitty escapes her suffocating world for a more colorful one…where she meets a tattooed maverick who captivates her with one sexy smirk.

Adam Vaughn doesn’t play by the rules…

His good looks and bad-boy persona always get him what he wants, but he’s also an artist, a painter, and deeply sensitive. Lately, however, only one thing inspires him—the stunning Kitty Peters.

Passion flares, but a family crisis might douse the flame…

Adam needs help, and Kitty’s father has connections. As the end of her month approaches, Kitty’s deal with the devil is far more complicated than simply submitting to her father’s will.

Can she walk away from the man she loves in order to save him from pain?

Even if it means living the rest of her life without him?

Renee’s Review:

I received a copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review.

The Artist is the second book in The Game Changers Series by Shealy James.

Katherine is a socialite. She’s the daughter of a very influential businessman, millionaire and a socialite Mom A Mom who  has been arranging her wedding to Gage, Katherine’s childhood friend since they were babies. Katherine has few friends and has been groomed to marry someone who will take over her fathers business one day. Endless parties and social functions keep Kitty busy and are basically her life. She is not happy.

Adam. Tall dark and handsome and the very definition of what Katherine imagines a bad boy to be. Upon finding Katherine in his favorite chair, (she says it’s her favorite chair), at the coffee shop  he is interested. Katherine on the other hand feels the pull to him but knows her parents would never let her be with a guy like Adam. EVER!!!!

Can Katherine find a way to get out from under her controlling parents and have a life of her own? If not she knows she has to marry a man she will never love. Her parents are on a mission for this to happen.

The Artist is a beautiful love story but so much more at the same time. It’s about standing on your own two feet. Feeling emotions for the first time. Rebellion. The true meaning of friendship and family. It’s a book about a whole lot of discovery. Katherine’s parents pay for everything she has in this world and she is trapped. Doomed to be a trophy wife. While I liked her character a whole lot I wanted to shake her at times. That comes from my just not understanding that type of life I figured out once I thought about it. I wanted Katherine to say no, go jump in the creek you mean people. I don’t see how she put up with all she put up with. Adam, is the exact opposite as far as their upbringings and money goes. A talented artist and bar owner he is all male, but has a heart of gold. I loved Adam so much. He was a great character. This book is very well written and I loved every second of it. I devoured it as I just had to know what was going to happen.

This is my first book by Shealy James, but I’m sure it won’t be my last. I’m need to go back and read the first book in the series. But, don’t worry if you haven’t read it either, each book in the series is a standalone. If you love true love stories with a hint of mystery that keep you guessing this is the book for you.
